As Thanksgiving approaches, our awareness of being grateful grows. We reflect on all the things we are grateful for and all of the people who enrich our lives. We reach out to express our appreciation to our friends, sharing how much they mean to us. We shift our focus away from what we lack - focused instead, on what we have with gratitude.
The practice of gratitude is deeply meaningful and inspiring. However, there's one key element missing – you.
In your life, the most key figure is you. The largest impacts on your life, health, and wellbeing come from you. Who you are and how you express yourself influences everything around you – including those you love and care about. Have you ever taken a moment to write down the aspects of yourself that you're thankful for?
If you haven't, don’t worry. Many of us haven’t even considered being grateful for ourselves. When in reality, we should be our biggest cheerleader, and it is never too late to start!
You are a spiritual being having a human experience, and this experience isn’t always easy. You, my friend, deserve lots of kudos just for that – yes, for choosing to show up and be here in this life, at this time.
Have you ever reflected on your unique talents, strengths, and qualities that set you apart? No one else is exactly how you are. Value that about yourself! I know I value that about you, even if our paths haven’t crossed yet – and you’ve found your way to reading this article.
Make a list of what is great about you. After all you wouldn't be here without you! Include all the things that make you – you. Your strength for what you’ve overcome. Your fearlessness for looking forward to the future. Include everything great and small that helps form the unique person that is you.
I'm willing to bet that your friends, family, children, and parents readily acknowledge you with gratitude. So why shouldn't you do the same?
One of the most important agreements we made as souls is to master our negative self-perception, critical inner dialogue, and low self-esteem. We are, after all, a divine soul made in God's image. You are unquestionably amazing, but you need to recognize it. And why shouldn't you?
Are you ready to embark on a lifelong journey to discover your true, authentic self and embrace unconditional self-love? It's astonishing how easily we slip into self-deprecating thoughts like, "That was foolish, why did I do that?" or "I can't do anything right."
You aren’t alone! I’ve been on this same journey to correct my negative aspects and move into gratitude. One of the ways I’ve made progress is to compliment myself – providing that needed ‘atta boy’ and energetic lift. It also is powerful to express gratitude to myself and my body for their constant efforts and existence.
This Thanksgiving, begin a new tradition of being grateful for yourself. Appreciate your personality, your uniqueness, your body for its daily support, and your soul - your divine inspiration. Place yourself at the top of your gratitude list – and experience a whole new energetic mindset.
Know that I am grateful for you!
Love - Alice
